Alphabet Lapbooks are an engaging tool for building foundational literacy skills. Whether your child does preschool at home, attends a preschool, or you are an early childhood educator, this tool will enhance foundational literacy skills. Lapbooks also provide a great bonding experience between parent/teacher and child as you guide them through the lapbook.
As a mother, I’ve implemented Alphabet Lapbooks with my own children one-on-one, as well as in a co-op preschool experience. It has been extremely rewarding to watch them complete each section and learn so many different skills within each lapbook. I recommend printing them on white card stock, and completing them across two or three different days rather than in one sitting.
As a preschool teacher, I always wanted to provide hands-on learning experiences rather than drill and kill worksheets that just get thrown away. My classroom was set up with various learning stations to create a community of learners. I desired an age-appropriate and engaging curriculum and decided to develop and implement Alphabet Lapbooks; a 26 week curriculum to enhance each child’s learning experience. The lapbooks were completed throughout the week and sent home for repetition and review. Alphabet Lapbooks provided a great learning tool to extend learning between home and school.
